Nothing Gold Can Stay

image

Queue that changing time in accessory land when there’s a continental shift heard round the world of fashion. This turn, it’s all about the underdog; the crucially ignored, seemingly mediocre metallic, silver. Sure, a creamy gold connotes a certain hazy softness that reminds us of angels, babies, and butter. But the truth is, silver will always be cooler. We saw it on Rick Owen’s celestial spring runway in caftan-hybrids, while Ferragamo displayed some ultra shiny space age numbers. Lanvin put Kristen McMenamy herself, the had-silver-hair-before-it-was-hip supermodel, in a sparkling jumpsuit with tons of hardware around her neck. Call us trend obsessors, but we were sold. So with the rest of our pastel-tinged spring collections, came a liquid palette of silver and gray. Lady Grey’s newest line is one of the designers’ best, influenced by art deco and inspired by organic lines on animals and nature. Their collection is at once startlingly fresh and deeply marked by heritage. Some pieces are really beautiful, and others are strictly edge. The combination in result is very special. Another one of our favorite in-store and online items right now are the Ann-Sofie Back silver boxer shorts. Pair with her studded sweat-tee and you’re set. Tres’ chic!
